Cookies and browser storage

Version of 4 October 2026.
1. In short
layers.md sets no cookies. There are no analytics counters, ads, pixels or embedded third-party widgets. Fonts, scripts, images and videos are served from our own server, so browsing the site sends no data to third parties.
On your first visit the site shows a bar with a choice: “Accept all”, “Reject” or “Customize”. The “Analytics” and “Third-party media” categories are empty right now: we ask in advance so that nothing is turned on without your consent if such services ever appear.
2. What is stored in your browser
Your browser keeps only your own choices in local storage (localStorage):
layers-theme — colour theme: light or dark. Saved when you switch the theme.
layers-lang — code of the chosen site language: en, ru, es or another from the site’s language list. Saved when you switch the language.
layers-consent — your answer to the consent request: allowed categories, rules version and date. This is the record of consent (Art. 7(1) GDPR). Saved when you press a button in the bar or in cookie settings.
These values are never sent to our server or anyone else, contain no identifiers and cannot be used to identify you. They have no expiry: they stay in your browser until you delete them. We ask for consent again only if the rules change.
Until you make a choice, nothing is stored: the site follows your system theme and opens in the language of the address (/, /ru/, /es/); the default language is English.
3. How to change your choice
Open — the link is also in the footer of every page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
4. Why this needs no consent
Remembering a setting you explicitly chose, and your answer to the consent request, is needed to carry out your own request. Such storage does not require consent: Art. 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC, Art. 22.2 of the Spanish LSSI-CE, and the AEPD cookie guide (user-chosen interface settings).
5. How to delete it
Clear the site data for layers.md in your browser settings, usually under Privacy → Cookies and site data. The site will then follow your system settings again.
6. The app and other sites
The “Sign in” and “Start free” buttons lead to the app at app.layers.md. The app has its own rules, described in the Privacy Policy.
Links to the App Store, Google Play, Docker Hub and sumoffice.com lead to other companies’ sites. Nothing is sent to them until you follow a link.
7. Changes
If the site ever needs cookies or third-party services that require consent, we will update this page and ask for consent before turning them on. Questions: contacts@layers.md.
